VZ Commodore and Calais V wagons, difference in fuel consumption?

I am thinking of replacing my Holden VZ Commodore wagon with a VF Calais V wagon and after reading your article the other day, it appears the V8 may be the better option of the two engines available. Driven normally by a 64-year-old, mostly on highway trips, is there a huge difference in fuel consumption? It appears from all the articles I have read this is a pretty good, safe and comfortable vehicle, if not the pick of the current Holden wagons.

If you want the V8 then you should have it. The economy will be good enough on highway work but remember it will suck fuel down on short trips or if you uncork the performance away from the traffic lights.
