    Volkswagen DSG gearbox failures

    I find it astonishing every time you mention the Volkswagen Golf you hark back to what happened years ago with what you call quality glitches and DSG gearbox failures. I have been the proud owner of two Polos with DSG gearboxes and I now drive a Golf Mk 7, which you said would be the model to buy and I must say you were right. I have now done well over 20,000km and the car has only been back to the dealer once, for its 15,000km service. I have absolutely nothing to bitch about but find it astonishing criticism still exists with the current crop of VWs.

    It's still too early to know if VW has put all its troubles behind it and 20,000km is nowhere near enough in any case. We love the Golf but would still recommend that any friend be careful about long-term problems.
