Ford Falcon: Are the transmissions reliable?

I recently bought a 2002 BA Ford Falcon that has done over 200,000 km and have heard that there is an inherent problem with the auto transmission failing at these kilometres due to ingress of radiator coolant. Is this inevitable or is there only a percentage of cars that are affected and if so, what percentage? Also what would it cost to have an external transmission cooler fitted? I've been told too that this model transmission is not serviceable. Is this true?

The auto can fail at any kilometres, not necessarily 200,000 km, and it's because the transmission cooler that's in the radiator fails and coolant gets into the transmission. The transmission can be serviced, but you have to take it to an automatic transmission specialist, who could also fit an external cooler for $500-$600.
