I have had my 2002 Nissan Navara D40 diesel since new and until recently it has been reliable, but I am now having trouble starting the engine after it's been sitting idle for more than two days. It will start but then die and I have to continue cranking until eventually the motor restarts. This drains the battery. Nissan has replaced the injector pump, primer and filter, but don't seem to have any other ideas on how to fix it.
It could be a number of things, like the suction control valve on the fuel pump, although that's unlikely given that the pump has been replaced. It could be a problem with the fuel rail pressure sensor, but the first thing I would suggest you try is clean the Mass Air Flow Sensor in the intake.
