    Commodore with metal particles in oil

    One morning at start-up, my Commodore SS made a clatter. The oil pressure was fine but I switched it off. The dealer told me if the clatter goes away to bring it in. Starting the car again, the engine laboured to crank over but started, still clattering until it warmed up. A sample of oil showed there were tiny fragments of metal in it. The dealer said they could not hear anything wrong and refused to investigate. The Commodore is two years old with a year of warranty remaining. What can I do?

    Change the oil before you drive it as metal particles can lead to severe engine damage. Talk to the dealer and demand it be fixed under the warranty.
