The very graphic 'Wipe-off Five' promotion, is all about the promotion of cars with ESP stability control and curtain airbags.
We are finally seeing some sense from the TAC in Victoria.
After its scare-monger crash commercials, and the questionable physics of its 'Wipe-off Five' promotion, it is moving to solid ground to promote cars with proven safety credentials.
You could almost say it is following the Carsguide . . .
The latest TAC push is all about ESP stability control and curtain airbags — two of the essentials for a five-star rating in the Australian New-Car Assessment Program. As we have been saying for years.
But at least the TAC is onboard and it has plenty of marketing muscle to make sure the message gets through to every new-car shopper in the state.
"Choose a car that could save your life. If the car you are considering doesn't have ESC and curtain airbags, it should be crossed off your list," says Samantha Cockfield, the TAC's Road Safety Manager.
It is backing the call with a major advertising push starring James O'Loghlin, anchor for the ABC's 'New Inventors' program.
So, what do you think of the commercials and how do you feel about the change of tack by the TAC? Drop us a line to carsguide@heraldsun.com.au
