The Australian International Motor Show (AIMS) is Australia’s largest automotive event and one of the top ten motor shows in the world. With an annual attendance in excess of 240,000 people, AIMS is Australia’s largest single-industry event and the largest exhibition of any kind in New South Wales after the Royal Easter Show.

Formerly known as the Sydney Motor Show, the first event was held in 1911 and – except for interruptions caused by the two world wars – the show has been held almost every year since. For most of its life the Sydney Motor Show was held at the Royal Agricultural Society’s halls at Moore Park. In 1988 it moved to the newly built Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour.

The motor show is organised by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries on behalf of its members – Australia’s automobile manufacturers, importers and distributors.

Each year more than 50 all-new, updated or concept cars are unveiled among the more than 400 vehicles on display.
